How do I register with Kansas Mentors?

Programs are asked to complete the program registration form, which can be downloaded below. Upon submission of the form, a representative from Kansas Mentors will contact the program to complete the registration process. Programs are asked to complete this step first before applying to be a Gold Star program. Registration as an affiliate mentoring program will provide the program with a listing on the online directory and access to free records checks.

Gold Star Program

What is the Gold Star Program?

The Kansas Mentors Gold Star Quality Mentoring System (QMS) was developed in an effort to provide a safe and effective mentoring environment for the youth of Kansas. This program recognizes mentoring partners across the state who have committed to maintaining a basic set of standards to ensure a quality mentoring experience. Developed by Kansas Mentors and its Council of Mentors, these standards reflect guidelines set forth in MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership’s Elements of Effective Practice™.

Why participate in the Gold Star Quality Mentoring System? Click here(PDF) for a document that discusses the benefits and opportunities available to KM Gold Star programs.

Gold Star programs are the only programs eligible for state employees to utilize their mentoring time as authorized in Executive Order 08-10. For more information, click here.

How do I participate in the Gold Star Program?

For application materials, please contact KM Director or fill out the Gold Star Inquiry Form(PDF), and/or see the Gold Star Program page.

Please note: Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters and Foster Grandparents have been recognized by Kansas Mentors (KM) as umbrella Gold Star Programs. Therefore, if you have a signed agreement with either of these organizations, your program is automatically included as a registered Gold Star Program. However, please fill out the Gold Star Registration Form to assure your program is listed.
